The Role:
As a Human Resources Manager, you would be responsible for managing the overall HR functions of our Chicago site to deliver an excellent employee experience and financial profitability. Reporting to the HR Director, you will run all day-to-day HR activities including talent management, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations and policy, and procedure development.
Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Be the champion of workplace compliance, from labor laws to health & safety, policies & procedures, and conflict management.
- Oversee the payroll process, manage the company’s Payroll/HRIS Specialist and serve as a primary liaison between the company and our payroll provider, ADP, for high-profile cases.
- Manage benefits administration, including the company’s healthcare, 401k, & commuter benefit plans.
- Maintain compliance with all federal and state initiatives, including unemployment claims, garnishments, ACA reporting, etc.
- Develop, and implement personnel policies and procedures such as the employee handbook.
- Manage all workers' compensation and benefits. Act as the primary contact for our employees and our compensation provider.
- Lead the performance review process, guiding and coaching management to assess performance management issues and compensation review
- Provide guidance, advice, and coaching to managers on general human resources issues such as organization design, recruitment and selection, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations.
- Develop, and conduct new hire orientation and onboard new employees
- In coordination with Talent Sourcer, supports the full-cycle recruiting process
- Research, develop, and implement retention programs; positively impacting turnover, and work performance; audit retention programs to monitor the effectiveness
- Performs other HR-related functions as directed.

Who you are:
- 3-4 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality or an environment interacting with hourly employees.
- 1-2 years of high-volume recruitment experience.
- You have experience with an HRIS/payroll system, preferably ADP WorkforceNow.
- You are a leader. You help to build a sense of common purpose.
- Prior experience running a one-person HR operation, is a big plus! 💪
- You have a bachelor’s degree in HR or in a related field.
- You work well in a fast-paced environment, are able to manage multiple projects and priorities, are open-minded, flexible, and resourceful.
- You are a great communicator.
- You are detail-oriented and have a “roll up your sleeves” attitude.
