AIRE Ancient Baths Chicago is reopening, and we're looking for an Assistant Therapist Manager to join our leadership team.
Join us as we reopen one of AIRE's most iconic locations and play a key role in leading and developing our therapist team. You'll help maintain AIRE's exceptional service standards, support daily operations, and create unforgettable experiences for every guest.
Our Chicago Location:
Our Chicago location was designed to showcase a historic restored factory from 1902 in River West, close to the West Loop. The space has been given a new lease of life and is now part of the magical AIRE atmosphere.
The Role:
As the Assistant Therapist Manager, you will support the Therapist Manager in leading the therapist team, coordinating daily shift operations, maintaining AIRE's service standards, and delivering an exceptional guest experience. You will also coach and develop therapists while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Departmental Duties:
Supervise 18 massage therapists per shift to ensure smooth service delivery.
Lead pre-shift AM and PM meetings to share updates, motivate the team, and align on daily goals.
Manage daily therapist schedules, handle last-minute changes, and track attendance and hours using the tablet system.
Conduct walk-throughs of treatment rooms to ensure they are clean, stocked, and ready for guests.
Oversee service and break assignments, check time records, and ensure grooming standards are met.
Maintain communication with other departments and document key updates and actions in the tablet.
Team Leadership:
Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to support therapist growth and maintain service quality.
Hold one-on-one check-ins and help resolve team conflicts when needed.
Assist with onboarding and training for new team members to ensure they understand AIRE standards.
Stock:
Monitor treatment room inventory and storage on a weekly and monthly basis.
Place supply orders and coordinate deliveries to keep products available and organized.
Assist with service product preparation, refill supplies for treatment.
Miscellaneous:
Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
Collaborate in recruitment processes and conduct massage practical demo for therapist candidates
Provide massage services to support daily operations during therapist absences, emergencies, or other staffing needs.
Assist with training and onboarding new therapists on massage services in alignment with AIRE treatment protocols, techniques, and service standards.
Conduct hands-on service trainings, demonstrations, and guided practice sessions to ensure consistency in service delivery and guest experience.
Lead refresher trainings on massage techniques and service protocols to reinforce standards, address performance gaps, and support continuous skill development.
Observe therapist services and provide real-time feedback and coaching to maintain quality and adherence to AIRE expectations.
Support the bathhouse operations when needed.
Who Are You:
You are highly organized and operational, with a strong ability to manage day-to-day activities in a spa or wellness environment.
You enjoy scheduling, planning treatments, and making sure everything runs on time and to standard.
You have at least 1-2 years of direct team leadership experience in spa, aesthetics, or wellness operations — not just overseeing, but actively managing, motivating, and developing your team.
You bring a minimum of 2 years of massage therapy experience.
You feel confident managing people and taking ownership of the guest and staff experience.
Whether you come from a therapy, aesthetics, or spa management background, what sets you apart is your ability to coordinate, solve problems, and lead by example.
You are proactive, hands-on, and always ready to step in and support the team when needed.
